Summer fundraising guide

A guide to fundraising during Summer with ideas to tie in with national and international celebrations

Pride Month

June is Pride Month. Research shows that LGBTQ+ young people make up around 24% of the young homeless population. On top of this, they are far more likely to be subjected to violence - both in and out of services. Centrepoint provide a safe space for LGBTQ+ young people to stay.

Refugee Month

June is also Refugee Month. Around 6% of young people at Centrepoint are refugees, including young people who have come to the UK as unaccompanied minors, fleeing violence or persecution in their own country. After being granted asylum, young people sometimes find themselves with nowhere to go and can end up on the streets. Centrepoint provides immigration advice and a place to live for up to 2 years, helping young people into independence.

It is also International Youth Day (August) during Summer.

Top fundraising ideas for Summer

National BBQ Week (June)

Host a barbecue in your garden or local park and get things sizzling! Invite all your friends and family and ask for a donation to attend. If you’re pushed for time, ask guests to make the salads and desserts so you can focus on the grilling. You could even have a beach theme, tell guests to dress the part and feel like they’re on holiday!

International Picnic Day (June)

invite all your friends at family to a picnic in your local park. Prepare all the food and drink and ask for a donation to Centrepoint to attend. You could ask for an extra donation to take part in a game of rounders afterwards for a bit of added competition!

National Bingo Day (June)

Host a bingo night at home or in your local pub or town hall. Provide the bingo cards and ask local businesses if they’d be willing to donate some prizes for the winners. Ask friends and family to make a suggested donation to Centrepoint to take part. You’ll have a full house in no time!

Summer Solstice 21 June

On the longest day of the year make the most of the sunlight and host a garden or street party for all your friends and family. Ask them to make a donation to Centrepoint to attend.

Wimbledon fortnight (July)

Get into the spirit by hosting a tennis tournament at your local club. Charge a suggested donation to Centrepoint for entry and serve up some good times! Or if you don’t fancy yourself the next Nadal, how about hosting a viewing party instead, with a side of strawberries and cream.

National Bow Tie Day (August)

Ask all your colleagues or classmates to donate to Centrepoint to wear one to work or university. Look stylish whilst raising money for a great cause. It couldn’t be easier!
