Thousands of homeless young people have no one to turn to.

Our Helpline was contacted over 16,000 times last year. More than we’ve ever seen in a single year since its launch in 2017.

Traumatic home environments, cost of living, and the ongoing housing crisis contribute to a young person facing homelessness every four minutes. When they have no one else to trust, the Centrepoint Helpline can give vital advice and support. We help young people understand their rights, find a bed for the night, and access vital services.

To ensure our Helpline can continue answering a young person's call during their darkest moments, please make a donation today. Thank you.

Dana's story

Fleeing domestic violence, Dana moved from one sofa to another for two years, constantly anxious about where she’d sleep next. Exhausted, and with no place to call home, she reached out to her council for housing support. But her situation was dismissed, leaving her feeling hopeless.

Everything changed when Dana called the Helpline. She was offered emotional support, an emergency food voucher, and help advocating with her housing officer. Eventually, she was able to complete the paperwork needed for interim accommodation. Finally, she could feel safe. She told us "I don’t feel like I have to fight anymore".

But this winter, many other young people will need the Helpline's expert support. Please, donate to help someone like Dana today.

Support the life-changing Helpline today

Our Advisors are expertly trained to provide emotional support, practical advice, and most importantly, hope. This helps to guide young people through what can be very terrifying experiences. Some of the support we offer includes:

  • The housing and benefit systems can be tricky to navigate, so we explain the support that’s available to young people using clear and simple terms.
  • When a young person is struggling with their mental health, with their permission, we can speak to local authorities and other services on their behalf, helping them get vital support, faster.
  • Finally, we always ensure that there is a plan in place for a young person and that they know their next steps. We also remind them that they can call us back if they need any more support.

From the moment we speak to a young person, we show them that we’re in their corner. But we can’t be there for homeless young people without you behind us.

It felt like Centrepoint's Helpline really cared and wanted to make a difference. Having someone want to advocate for me made me want to advocate for myself.
