Volunteer for Centrepoint

Are you looking for volunteering opportunities? Join our incredible volunteers who donate their skills, expertise and energy to help end youth homelessness by 2037.

Without our volunteers, we couldn’t have such a positive impact on homeless young people’s lives.

During 2024-25, almost 400 people volunteered an incredible 13,500 hours of their time - estimated to be over £830K of extra resource to support Centrepoint's work.

Our volunteers support young people in many ways. They help them to:

  • develop independent living skills
  • engage with our services and programmes
  • access legal support

or just give them that little extra nudge to try something new.

Things to consider when applying

We ask you for a minimum of six months commitment. This is so that we can ensure consistency with young people which helps to establish supportive and trusting relationships – something we believe is essential to our work at Centrepoint.

Our application process

  1. Apply to be a volunteer
  2. Attend interview or selection evening
  3. DBS clearance and reference checks
  4. Training 1: Mandatory training about Centrepoint and the issue of youth homelessness. All volunteers take part in this training.
  5. Training 2: Skills for volunteering with young people at Centrepoint. This training is only for specific roles.
  6. Further discussion meeting about the role and what to expect.
  7. Induction with your supervisor

Our success

We are an Investing in Volunteers accredited organisation, which we have held since 2024. Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for good practice in volunteer management and shows our commitment to volunteer experience at Centrepoint.
