Aldo Zilli returned to help us front another vital campaign highlighting the realities of food poverty in the UK.
Centrepoint research finds that almost half of 16-25 year olds across the UK have gone to bed hungry and a third have gone a whole day without food. Many young people are struggling so much to buy food that they’re sacrificing meals to pay other essentials costs.
Aldo teamed up with his sous chef and former Centrepoint resident Ashanti to call on the government to increase financial support to stop vulnerable young people going to bed hungry.
Ashanti, who is unable to work due to health reasons, cooked a meal she regularly eats while she lives off Universal Credit. This meal of spaghetti, tomato pasta sauce and tuna doesn’t give Ashanti the nutrients and vitamins she needs every day.
Aldo then cooked a healthy, nutritious meal of chicken and vegetable fajitas with rice - which is what young people like Ashanti could be living off if they received just a little more financial support from the government.
