While most of the nation overindulged in a Christmas banquet, over 24,000 homeless young people weren’t sure if they would get any kind of Christmas meal at all.

Award-winning chef Aldo Zilli helped us highlight the disparity between the nation’s favourite festive foods versus what homeless young people have eaten on Christmas Day.

New research revealed that over half of us will enjoy gravy (60%), stuffing (52%) and sprouts (51%) but homeless young people aren’t so lucky.

Aldo plated up a Christmas meal like no other – on one side of the table a decadent Christmas banquet, and on the other side of the a table a not-so-festive spread of tinned pilchards and rice, pizza, microwave meals, fast food and leftovers.

Long-time Centrepoint ambassador Aldo, was once homeless himself over Christmas and fronted our campaign to highlight the realities of homelessness.

Chef Aldo Zilli, comments, “Having experienced homelessness myself, and eaten discarded pizza from the back of a restaurant on Christmas Day, I’m proud to be able to support Centrepoint this year.

"While most of us worry about supermarket queues and buying enough stuffing to feed the family, many homeless young people will be spending Christmas alone, scared and without a decent meal. I encourage everyone to spare a thought for people in need this Christmas, and if they are able, to consider making a donation to Centrepoint in order to help them.”
