Help when you're sleeping rough

Day centres are safe, warm places you can go to during the day. They can help with food, clothes and showers, advise you on housing rights and refer you to emergency accommodation. You can ask Shelter’s free helpline - 0808 800 4444 (8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm at weekends) - about services nearest to you, or use the Homeless UK directory.

If you have no choice but to sleep rough tonight, it’s important to try and keep yourself as safe as you can. Some young people have told us they find it safer to stay on night buses or 24-hour food outlets where there are people around.

Remember if you are in immediate danger you should call the emergency services by dialing 999.
