Thank you! Celebrating our supporters

Your support has helped us support thousands of vulnerable young people move on from homelessness, for good.

We’ve dedicated the 28 March 2024 to celebrate some of our most valued supporters and say a massive ‘thank you’.

From everyone at Centrepoint, thank you for the life-changing support given homeless young people. To show you how grateful we are, our staff and young people have recorded a short video.

Our amazing supporters have shared their motivations for supporting Centrepoint:

Jutta Boehmer

“Every person should have a fair start in life, but many don't. I am pleased that I can use my hobby (upcycling glass bottles) to raise money for young people who need help.”

Kathryn Hughes

“I support Centrepoint as homelessness has become a human crisis and l can't bear the thought of young people sofa surfing or living on the streets in this day and age in Britain.”

“As a volunteer, I could solely focus on helping and serving the needs of the young people. I was helped in this by the sincere warmth and welcome given to me by the staff. It was evident from a very early stage that I was working with people who shared the same values and goals; to their best for the young people and shine a light to let them see a way forward to a brighter future.”

Nick Maughan

“I’ve been proud to support Centrepoint through the Nick Maughan Foundation since 2021. Every young person should have the same opportunities starting out in life, and I know that my donations help Centrepoint as they assist young people out of homelessness and into a brighter and hopeful future that they can be excited about.

I took part in my own Sleep Out challenge last year, which gave me a greater insight into how complex the issue of homelessness is. Through the foundation’s BoxWise programme, we are also proud to be empowering young people through sport through boxing classes at Centrepoint services.”

Jo Houston

Jo has been a volunteer gardener for the service, and does monthly trips into London all the way from Leicestershire! Jo’s employer been so impressed with her volunteering that they gave her a £15,000 donation to spend on garden renovations in 2023. Jo led this project and worked with different teams in Centrepoint and the service residents to make sure that the money was used in the best way possible.

In July the garden had a massive renovation, including adding new bespoke decking, which made the garden be able to be enjoyed all year round by young people, staff and volunteers.

Freda Evans

Freda has spent over 40 years of her life working tirelessly to help the homeless. Through her experience working in the homeless shelters of Central and East London, she gained first-hand knowledge of the challenges and struggles faced by young homeless people.

Recognising the importance of empowering individuals to advocate for themselves, and the role that Centrepoint plays in instilling this holistic approach, Freda has chosen to leave a gift to Centrepoint in her Will. This way, her gift will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people for many years to come.

Jan and Barry Eldred

"This experience reminds us of some of the difficulties of living without the security of a home."

Long-time Centrepoint supporters Jan and Barry held their own Sleep Out in their garden shed and raised more than £1,600.

Thank you to our Corporate partners and supporters!

Selfridges

2023 has been a record breaking year in almost every area of our partnership. Selfridges launched new campaigns, increased their corporate donation and their staff organised and took part in more fundraising activities than ever.

As a result, in 2023 they raised over £700,000 for Centrepoint; a phenomenal achievement. Not only this, but Selfridges’ staff completed over 400 hours of volunteering, and their campaigns helped us to raise even greater awareness of our work.

The genuine passion and enthusiasm of the Selfridges team is clear to see in everything they do, and they have shown true team work to achieve this record breaking total. Thank you!

The ASOS Foundation

The ASOS Foundation have been incredible supporters of Centrepoint since our partnership began in 2017. Coventry Building Society

Centrepoint is incredibly proud of our three year partnership with Coventry Building Society which is making a positive impact on young people’s lives both nationally and in Coventry. The partnership launched in April 2023 and in our first year Coventry Building Society has donated an incredible £1million.

The funding has been used to grow our Centrepoint Helpline, established a new pre-16 prevention pilot working in schools in London and Manchester with pupils at risk of homelessness, supported our Centrepoint Works - Jobs, Education and Training Teams and created a Youth Hub in Coventry, with our partner St Basil’s.

This truly transformational partnership has also seen staff get involved via volunteering at our services, organising fundraising at their branches and offices and running careers fairs for some our young people. Thank you so much Coventry Building Society for your dedication, support and passion during this first year!

Royal Bank of Canada

2023 was another fantastic year for our partnership with Royal Bank of Canada, who raised and donated £129,725 for homeless young people. Centrepoint were honoured to be chosen to benefit from RBC Charity Day for the Kids for a second year.

We had some wonderful RBC colleagues volunteer with our services this year. Teams helped to redecorate our communal spaces at a number of residential services as well gardening and decorating for Christmas. In November we had a team of 13 employees take on Centrepoint’s flagship fundraising event – Sleep Out, at The Oval in London, where they raised £14,205. Thank you Royal Bank of Canada!

The Co-operative Bank

The Co-operative Bank are Centrepoint’s longest standing corporate partner, and have to date raised an absolutely amazing £2.4m to support homeless young people. Their commitment to fundraising has enabled us to develop and expand services to meet the changing needs of vulnerable and isolated young people.

Last year they also launched the Bridge to Banking scheme enabling young people with no fixed address to apply for a bank account, which can help them access benefits, employment and financial independence.

They have also supported our Centrepoint Works team with work experience and employment workshops and two young people have since gone on to recently join the bank as apprentices.

Thanks for all of your hard work last year, and for the past seven years to support homeless young people.
