This winter, Centrepoint estimates that 23,500 young people aged 16-24 in England are at risk of facing homelessness.

To highlight the scale of youth homelessness, Centrepoint created ‘Winter Wanderland’ – a striking installation at London’s Outernet, just a stone’s throw from Winter Wonderland itself.

In a deceptively charming winter scene, the stories of three young people who have faced homelessness were told through the objects that helped shape them and their journeys.

Jahz's story

Two things that mean more than anything to Jahz are his soft toy collection he has kept with him since he was a child, and his uncle’s wedding shirt which was left to Jahz before his uncle passed away. No matter how worn or old they get, these items remind Jahz of his journey so far and give him comfort as he makes the next steps into independence.

NB

Becoming a mum brought joy, purpose, and a love NB could never imagine.  Her first baby’s mobile is a reminder of that, but being a mum hasn’t taken away from her dreams. NB loves drawing portraits – a passion she hopes to keep alive as her children grow and their lives move forward.

Isabelle

Creating a magical Christmas for her little one has always been a dream of Isabelle’s. One item she has held onto all year round in the run up to the festive season is a Christmas tree tin she was gifted last year. It’s been a symbol of hope for Isabelle and a reminder of how far she has come in the past year.
