Accessing and sustaining Higher Education

POINT MADE episode 9

Currently, just 6 per cent of care leavers aged 19-21 go into higher education, and those that do are nearly twice as likely to drop out as their peers. 40% of young people that Centrepoint supports are care leavers, but the majority will experience some barriers to education.

In a cost of living crisis, it is more difficult than ever for young people starting university, but for those who have left Centrepoint and experienced homelessness or trauma or both, it is even more challenging.

Former resident and Centrepoint Trustee, Darren Douglas, talks to two former service users about how to navigate university life and get the most out of their university journey.
