16,000 calls were made to our Helpline last year.

Thousands of young people are facing homelessness alone. No young person should be left struggling in an unsafe place.

Will you be the turning point, by supporting Centrepoint's work today? Your kindness could be the difference in a helpline call that leads to a young person having a stable home – often for the first time in their life. Instead of worrying about what to eat or where to sleep, they can start to put their lives back together, safe in the knowledge that we’ll be there for as long as they need us.

Emily's Story

At 21, Emily called the helpline following a family breakdown. Her stepfather had a history of violence, and after an escalated situation, Emily was asked to leave by her stepfather.

"It was quite scary. I was scared of being on the streets and I was hurt because my mum took my stepdad's side. It was like she was kicking me out as well. She suffers with her mental health so she relies on my stepdad a lot."

Desperate, Emily called the Centrepoint Helpline. Due to her age and the state her mental health was in after her experience with her stepfather, Emily was immediately connected to Sharon, a Centrepoint HPRS (Homeless Prevention and Relief Service) worker. Sharon was able to find Emily temporary housing and eventually something more stable and appropriate. Emily was referred to both Centrepoint's Education, Employment and training team, and the mental health team.

Emily is slowly getting stronger and moving in the right direction.
