Our Helpline is here to prevent young people from becoming homeless. It is a completely free service. We know that Monday is the busiest day for calls to the Helpline, so please keep trying if you aren’t able to get through immediately. We are busy, but we are here to help. Or you can use our email service below and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
For ten nights, travel writer Phoebe Smith and her team are slept out at the top of some of Britain’s most iconic landmarks to help give homeless young people a future.
Help them reach their £20,000 fundraising target.
The adventurers slept high in the sky on small platforms called portaledges, rigged at heights of up to 300 metres, at ten vertigo-inducing wonders across the UK.
• Strathy Point, Scottish Highlands
• Bunnet Stane, Fife
• Stadium of Light, Sunderland
• Gaping Gill, Yorkshire
• Alhambra Theatre, Bradford
• St Benedict's Church, Manchester
• Lake Vyrnwy fir tree, Wales
• Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol
• Centrepoint Tower, London
• Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth
We’ve deliberately chosen to take on this challenge and sleep in some very strange places but the reason doing this is to help those who don’t have a choice about where they spend the night.
I’ve had periods of my life where things have been unstable and I’ve had to rely on the kindness of friends putting me up because I didn’t have anywhere to stay. Sometimes that little bit of help can make all the difference, which is why we’ve chosen to support Centrepoint.
Adventurer Phoebe Smith likes to sleep wild – from caves to mountain tops, inside glaciers and dangling from trees. She's on a mission to find the ultimate place to spend the night.
Ollie has over 16 years of rope access and rigging experience. He has worked extensively with the BBC on programmes such as Planet Earth 2 and Springwatch.
John is a doctor working in emergency medicine. He's a canopy explorer with wide experience in the world's forest treetops, and also helped to film the BBC's Planet Earth 2.
You can sponsor Phoebe, Ollie and John on their JustGiving page.
You can also text CAMP64 to 70070 to donate £10 to Centrepoint – £1 for every extreme sleep the team will complete.
The Extreme Sleep Out Team are took on this challenge with the permission of Centrepoint and the venues/locations where they are sleeping. They are qualified to take on such an extreme challenge and were fully covered by insurance. Do not try and replicate any part of this challenge yourself as it could put your life and the lives of others at risk if carried out incorrectly. Centrepoint will not be responsible if people do take on this challenge without the proper qualifications and permission from Centrepoint.
