National Youth Homelessness Conference

On Wednesday 29 March we held our first face-to-face National Youth Homelessness Conference for 3 years at Coventry Building Society Arena, and it was great to bring so many people from the sector together once again.

Coventry Building Society sponsored the sell-out event with the main room packed with over 140 attendees, ranging from charities, housing associations, funders, local authorities and young people with lived experience.

Key speakers included Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands, and there were 15 sessions with 30 speakers covering themes such as Psychologically Informed Environments, fundraising, Ofstedā€™s regulated accommodation, the cost of living, homelessness prevention, housing quality and moving on. There was something for everyone!

But it was the young people who stole the show! Cameron, Georges, Ikra, Ayran and Aminah gave a powerful and honest view of what it is like be young and homeless. They talked about the challenges they have faced and their achievements which left the audience in tears and smiles.
