About the role

Description

As a Jobs and Education Coach, you will support young people who are looking to secure and maintain Employment, Education or Training. Through your role, you will support a number of activities to help young people secure and maintain their Education, Employment and Training and could vary from supporting young people to jobs fairs or college open days, to job searching and completing application for jobs or education.

You may also support the JET advisers to engage young people into soft informal learning activities to help them build confidence prior to accessing a formal program of learning.

This is an exciting role and you’ll play an integral role in a young person’s journey to a job and a home!

  • Be accountable and represent Centrepoint appropriately 

Requirements

Volunteers should meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel, Publisher
  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with young people, other volunteers and staff
  • Understanding of the issues – practical and emotional – facing young people experiencing youth homelessness
  • Understanding of the importance of teamwork and a strong commitment to being part of a team
  • Ability to develop a rapport with young people
  • Reliability, punctuality, and commitment to routine
  • Good communication skills, written and oral
  • A commitment to demonstrating Centrepoint’s values and empowering young people
  • A commitment to safeguarding young people
  • A commitment to complete the necessary volunteer training sessions

What we need from you

Before starting the role we will require the following:

  • Undergo Centrepoint Enhanced DBS process – we are unable to accept DBS certificates from other organisations
  • Provide a minimum of three forms of ID to support your DBS application
  • Provide the name and contact information of two people who can provide a reference for you
  • Undergo Centrepoint core induction training
  • Undergo Coaching Mindset training within 6 months of commencing your role

You may also be required to undertake further role specific training courses throughout the duration of your volunteering role.

  • Ongoing support and supervision from the Volunteering Team
  • Ongoing support and supervision from the Content Creator staff team
  • Access to further training
  • Travel and other reasonable expenses reimbursed
