About the role

Description

Are you fluent in one/more than one language and would like to help us make our learning material more inclusive?

We have recently been looking at ways to translate documents that we provide to our young people to improve their life skills and help them to achieve independence.  Materials might include topics such as paying bills, managing finances, cooking basic meals etc.

The role is completely remote and the commitment can be tailored around your schedule.  

To mention few of the languages needed (but not exclusive):

  • Arabic
  • Dari
  • Farsi
  • Kurdish
  • Oromo
  • Pushtu
  • Tigrinian

Summary

  • Helping to translate guides and notes for the young people to improve their learning
  • Helping Centrepoint staff make learning notes more accessible
  • Translating or proofreading learning materials

Requirements

Volunteers should meet the following criteria:

  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly within one or more language
  • Basic knowledge of office package (to access and amend materials)
  • Ability to proofread material that might have been previously translated
  • Ability to work unsupervised

What we need from you

Before starting the role we will require the following:

  • Undergo Centrepoint Basic DBS process - we are unable to accept DBS certificates from other organisations
  • Provide a minimum of three forms of ID to support your DBS application
  • Provide the name and contact information of two people who can provide a reference for you
  • Undergo Centrepoint core induction training

You may also be required to undertake further role specific training courses throughout the duration of your volunteering role.

  • Travel and other reasonable expenses reimbursed
