Every day on the streets is scary. Every night is even worse.

Thousands of young people are facing homelessness alone. No young person should be left struggling on the streets.

Will you become the turning point in their lives, by giving regularly to Centrepoint? Your kindness could give a young person a stable home – often for the first time in their life. Instead of worrying about what to eat or where to sleep, they can start to put their lives back together, safe in the knowledge that we’ll be there for as long as they need us.

Abdi's Story

Abdi came to Centrepoint after his mother asked him to leave home and was at risk of street homelessness. Abdi's father was suffering with mental health needs and his mother decided it was better for his father to take Abdi's room in the family home.

When Abdi arrived at the Centrepoint's HPRS (Homeless Prevention & Relief Service), he was assigned a support worker, Steph. She found that Abdi was not recognised as a 'priority need' by the local authority, meaning it was solely down to Centrepoint to provide him support. Luckily, Centrepoint in Manchester, where Abdi was based, had acquired a 2-bed emergency unit for those who are street homeless and waiting to move into a longer-term accommodation.

"Everything was new there and I felt very safe and comfortable. Stephanie always checked that I had everything I needed," Abdi says.

A few weeks later Abdi was offered long-term supported accommodation, where he settled in well and start to focus on finding work opportunities.
