This summer, young people across the UK will be looking to take their next steps into further education or employment. But what about the thousands who have no one cheering them on, no financial support and nowhere safe to live?

Like Zaid, whose future was thrown into uncertainty after a family breakdown left him homeless, and disrupted his university studies.

Despite being born in Britain and living in Manchester for most of his life, Zaid's dual nationality meant he did not technically have settled status, and therefore couldn't access the welfare support he urgently needed. Without a home or a job, money and options quickly ran out.

Thankfully, Zaid came across Centrepoint and called our Helpline. He was quickly referred to his Key Worker, Debbie, who spoke with the council to help him get his settled status.

At the same time, Zaid began receiving support from Centrepoint Works' Jobs and Education team. This tailored, holistic support helped him land a job as an IT analyst, and gave him the chance to rewrite his own future.

Young people like Zaid have so much to contribute to society, but homelessness stands in the way of lifechanging opportunities.

If you believe that’s not fair or right, please make a vital donation today. In these critical summer months, you can help a young person rewrite their future.
