What to expect

In the run up to the night, you'll receive a fundraising pack and some helpful resources from us to support with your fundraising efforts.

You’ll also receive a kit list, with everything you’ll need to bring with you on the night.

We set a suggested fundraising target of £350 per person, though any and all fundraising is valued and appreciated! Our team will be on hand to support you along the way.

You’ll arrive at Kachette at 8pm on 23 February with your sleeping bags and layers to prepare you for the cold. Though Kachette is an indoor space, the doors will remain open overnight, so make sure to wrap up!

The night will consist of lots of activities to learn more about youth homelessness, such as a pop-up service room installation and some real helpline recordings voiced by actors to listen to. You'll also have the chance to hear directly from people who previously used Centrepoint services and there will be plenty of staff on hand to talk to you about our work and how you can get involved further.

FAQs

On the night there will be several activities, talks and speeches to give you the chance to learn more about youth homelessness and Centrepoint’s work. It's a perfect opportunity to speak to staff about what we do and how you can get involved, listen to recordings of helpline calls to get an insight into how we support young people and some of the issues they face on a daily basis, and hear directly from a panel of Centrepoint service alumni who will talk about their experience of homelessness and being in our services.

Once you’re settled down in your sleeping bag, our amazing frontline staff will share their stories from supporting young people facing homelessness and you’ll hear how your fundraising will have a real impact on Centrepoint’s work. You'll be able to get involved in as many activities or as little as you'd like throughout the night. There will also be a raffle with lots of wonderful prizes!

Lights out will be at around 11pm, and that's when the real challenge begins. You'll settle down to spend a night under the railway arches. There will be staff on hand throughout the night if you have any questions, or just need a hot drink to keep you warm.

There will be lots of delicious hot drinks on hand throughout the night, including teas, coffees and hot chocolates to keep you warm, as well as soft drinks and light snacks, all free of charge. We will also provide a light breakfast in the morning to prepare you for the journey home.

No! There isn't an age limit, you can bring your family along to learn about what we do too! Anyone under 18 has to be accompanied by an adult, and if you would like to sign up someone under 18, please email sleepout@centrepoint.org as you will need to fill out a consent form before attending.

This year we'll be sleeping at Kachette, home of the original Shoreditch Railway ticket hall.

Though not directly outside, it will be exposed to the elements, and so we expect it to be cold.

We recommend bringing a sleeping bag, hats, jumpers, or any layers that will mean you stay warm throughout the night. Don't worry though, we will have some official Sleep Out branded hats available on the night, and you might even be in with the chance of winning one if you're at the top of our fundraising leadership board!

Arrival at the venue will be from 8pm. Please make sure to bring everything you need with you as there will be no re-entry.

Speeches and activities will start from 8.30pm and lights out will be at 11pm.

In the morning, people tend to leave between 5-8am, when public transport begins again.

Kachette is located under the railways arches on Old Street. It is located just a short walk from Old Street Underground Station, Shoreditch High Street Overground Station and Hoxton Overground Station.

We set a suggested minimum target of £350 per person, and the Centrepoint team will be on hand to support you to reach this. If you are unable to hit this target, don't worry, everything counts towards supporting young people experiencing homelessness.
