About the role

Description

As a Skills Development Digital Content Creator Volunteer you’ll be part of the staff team that supports staff and volunteers with training needs. You will contribute to creating a wide catalogue of training to suit all roles at Centrepoint. As we grow and develop as an organisation we rely more and more on digital tools such as Outlook, Teams and our Learning Management System (LMS) “Learning Point” to provide this training.

We are looking for a volunteer to help us create bite size ‘how to’ training videos (3-5 minutes) and/or guides to provide quick and easily accessible training materials for staff to access troubleshooting tools. The role holder will need to be confident in using digital tools and in creating engaging learning content. Initial training will involve an overview of the LMS and a breakdown of the topics needed.  

Summary

  • Become familiar with the systems in question through a familiarisation session and conversations with the Skills Development team 
  • Create 2-3 minute long videos outlining a specific use/ fix for the systems in question 
  • Create additional materials such as handouts or slides 
  • Seek feedback from the team on the content and update/adapt where required before publishing  

Requirements

Volunteers should meet the following criteria:

ESSENTIAL:

  • An understanding of a range of content creation methods 
  • An understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Teams and an ability to explain basic functionality
  • Confidence to create video output that is clear and instructive
  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with the assumption that the viewer has no understanding of the topic
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills
  • Good communication skills, written and oral
  • A commitment to demonstrating Centrepoint’s values
  • A commitment to complete the necessary volunteer training sessions 

DESIRABLE:

  • Knowledge of the issues around youth homelessness
  • Knowledge of common IT issues and their solutions 
  • Understanding of youth homelessness / the key issues that young people are facing

What we need from you

Before starting the role we will require the following:

  • Undergo Centrepoint Enhanced DBS process - we are unable to accept DBS certificates from other organisations
  • Provide a minimum of three forms of ID to support your DBS application
  • Provide the name and contact information of two people who can provide a reference for you
  • Undergo Centrepoint core induction training

You may also be required to undertake further role specific training courses throughout the duration of your volunteering role.
