About the role

Description

Centrepoint’s Learning Team (CP Works) work across the organisation, with the vision to engage, inspire, support and maintain young people in education, employment and training (EET). They do this by providing a personalised support package that aims to positively impact the lives of young people through high quality delivery in education, employability, training, assessment and feedback.

As a Learning Support Volunteer you will be providing support in a learning environment to both the trainer in delivery of learning activities, and with learners who require additional support to complete tasks. This could include delivering some elements of learning and small group work or 1:1 help in both the classroom and additional individual sessions if needed.  

Summary

  • Assist in the classroom supporting young people with their learning tasks
  • Deliver activities within a learning programme with direction from training staff
  • Support with enrolment paperwork and initial assessments
  • Assist the CP Works Learning team with daily tasks such as set up/clearing away and administrative support

Requirements

Volunteers should meet the following criteria:

Essential

  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • General IT skills – use of Teams, Microsoft Office 365
  • Ability to work well within a team, as well as confidence in working on tasks individually

Desirable

  • Experience in an education setting
  • Knowledge / experience of working with young people or learners
  • Knowledge of the issues around youth homelessness
  • Knowledge of common IT issues and their solutions 

What we need from you

Before starting the role we will require the following:

  • Undergo Centrepoint Enhanced DBS process – we are unable to accept DBS certificates from other organisations
  • Provide a minimum of three forms of ID to support your DBS application
  • Provide the name and contact information of two people who can provide a reference for you
  • Undergo Centrepoint core induction training
  • Undergo Coaching Mindset training within 6 months of commencing your role

You may also be required to undertake further role specific training courses throughout the duration of your volunteering role.
