About the role

Description

As part of the Advice, Information and Money (AIM) Service, you will play an integral part in supporting young people who are experiencing financial hardship. Through the scheme, young people can request a voucher to support with the cost of food and baby items. As the Emergency Food Voucher Programme volunteer, you will be helping the AIM Team to expand the delivery of this much needed support so that we can reach even more young people.

Your role will focus on assessing applications against set criteria, then distributing voucher codes on a duty basis, as well as establishing and maintaining records of the scheme.

  • Distribution of Voucher Codes to Centrepoint keyworkers
  • Establishing and maintaining records of distribution
  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly including, on some occasions, difficult decisions to Centrepoint keyworkers (although template e-mails will be provided) 
  • Ability to process applications in a timely manner, mindful of urgent nature of the request

Requirements

Volunteers should meet the following criteria:

Essential

  • Excellent Maths and English skills to meet audit standards
  • Ability to maintain objective decision making in challenging circumstances
  • Excellent administration and record keeping skills

Desirable

  • Understanding of the importance of teamwork; commitment to being part of a team
  • Experience working with young people or disadvantaged groups is preferable
  • Able to work unsupervised
  • Accounting experience

What we need from you

Before starting the role we will require the following:

  • Undergo Centrepoint Enhanced DBS process - we are unable to accept DBS certificates from other organisations
  • Provide a minimum of three forms of ID to support your DBS application
  • Provide the name and contact information of two people who can provide a reference for you
  • Undergo Centrepoint core induction training.

You may also be required to undertake further role specific training courses throughout the duration of your volunteering role.
