Every four minutes another young person faces homelessness.

Thousands of young people will be facing homelessness alone this winter. No young person should be left struggling on freezing streets.

Will you make this winter the turning point, by sponsoring a room at Centrepoint? Your kindness could give a young person a stable home – often for the first time in their life. Instead of worrying about what to eat or where to sleep, they can start to put their lives back together, safe in the knowledge that we’ll be there for as long as they need us.

Tal reading on their bed at a Centrepoint service

Tal's Story

Tal always knew they were queer. Coming out to friends at school had been a relief, but they knew they couldn't come out to their mother. When Tal was 18, their relationship broke down.

At home, Tal lacked privacy. Their mum made them keep the bedroom door open at all times, often entered unannounced and being aggressive. One day, Tal's mum went through their phone and discovered that they were queer.

“She wouldn’t accept me for who I was. She told me I was a disgrace and a shameful person. She told me I had to leave.” - Tal

It was a friend's mother who guided Tal to seek out support from the Centrepoint helpline. Since being at Centrepoint, Tal has participated in cooking classes, been referred to a psychotherapist for mental health support, and received help from their key worker with accessing benefits and learning independent living skills.
