The Government is making important spending decisions right now. We want to make sure no young person goes hungry or homeless. Will you join us in calling for change? Add your name to support a letter from Centrepoint young people.
Dear Chancellor,
As young people, we’ve been through a lot. We’ve lost parents and faced homelessness. We know what it’s like to be crushed by debt, to be locked in poverty and to feel the strain on your mental health. We’re not alone.
The benefits system should be there to help everyone in times of crisis - young people included. It’s not right that under-25s get less support, but have the same bills to pay as everyone else.
We need your help to make Universal Credit fair for young people. To be healthy, continue education and progress in work, we need food and basics. Or else we’re frozen - not living, simply surviving.
It’s good to see Universal Credit increased by £20 a week during the pandemic. Although the truth is, many of us were already in crisis before the pandemic hit. So please keep this extra £20 from now on.
We’d like to meet with you to talk about how your decisions can help turn homeless young people’s lives around.
Yours sincerely,
Kai and Catherine
