The Big Broth

Our new competition to find the tastiest homemade soup has now closed.

Whether it was a classic recipe passed down through the generations or a new trendy bowl inspired by a trip abroad, cooks across the country have taken part in our soup recipe competition.

Host The Big Broth on Friday 2 November, serve soup for friends, top it with a smile and raise money to help homeless young people.

How does The Big Broth work?

  1. Participants submitted their favourite soup recipe.
  2. Celebrity judges – including award-winning chef Aldo Zilli and founder of the Wahaca group of Mexican restaurants Thomasina Miers – will narrow down the entries and choose five finalists.
  3. In May, the five finalists will then take part in a cook off in London. Our celebrity panel then will choose the winner. 
  4. Yorkshire Provender will produce the winner's recipe, which will then be sold at supermarkets across the country from Autumn 2019.

We will be looking for a soup made with quality ingredients. We want tasty and interesting flavour combinations. Plus, it’s important for the winner to have a passion for cooking; we hope they put their heart and soul into the recipe. Youth homelessness is an important cause to get behind and the winner’s recipe will genuinely help save lives
