ARE YOU HOMELESS, SOFA SURFING OR AT RISK?

Dan's story

Dan’s life began to fall apart when he was five. On his way to school he was hit by a car and left partially brain damaged. Struggling to cope, Dan’s mother turned to drink and became increasingly violent towards him.

After years of abuse, a battered, bruised and bleeding Dan finally ran away from home. He was just 17. Unable to access help from the council, Dan had no choice but to sleep rough.

Being homeless eventually took its toll on Dan’s mental and physical health. Sleeping rough is hard and dangerous – homeless young people like Dan are twice as likely to die on the streets No one should have to live like this. That’s why it is so important you sponsor a room today.

Fortunately, Dan was put in touch with Centrepoint before it was too late, and we were able to get him off the streets. Dan now has a room at Centrepoint. Somewhere he can call home. Somewhere he feels warm and safe. And somewhere he can receive counselling, advice and learn the basic skills he will need to enjoy a brighter future.

Dan’s room at Centrepoint is helping him get his life back on track. He’s started going swimming, and now plays football in a local league, which his team won last year.

Dan had a terrible time when he was homeless. But thanks to his room at Centrepoint, he now has the rest of his life to look forward to. His goals are to finish his education and get a job in retail. All it took was just 40p a day from someone like you who became a Centrepoint Room Sponsor.
