Tamara became homeless when she was 35 weeks pregnant. After giving birth to her son, Tamara sofa surfed for three months and experienced post-natal depression. But thanks to Centrepoint, Tamara received support for her mental health and a home of her own. But there are other young mum's like Tamara who need your help.
69 per cent of young people receiving support at Centrepoint have reduced the severity of their symptoms
Centrepoint operates 1,271 supported housing bed spaces and 27 move-on units for homeless young people
We estimate 103,000 young people asked for help in 2017/18 because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness
With support and a lot of dedication, Tamara turned her life around. Today, aged 20, Tamara has her own two bedroom flat and a community of friends and support staff to lean on. She’s been reunited with her son, who is thriving in his new routine.
Your room will be much more than a roof over a young mum's head. We also provide health support and life skills to get them back into education, training and employment. This means they can move on to lead independent lives and have a future they can look forward to.
As a Centrepoint room sponsor, you will...
Over a year after moving into Centrepoint, Tamara moved into her own home with her son where she's created a loving safe place for them both. Because of her incredible achievements, Tamara won the Personal Development Award at the Centrepoint Awards 2018.
