Gym Instructor (Camberwell)

Time Commitment: One evening per week (minimum 2 hours)

As a Gym Instructor volunteer you will be supporting service staff by providing supervision and leading activities in the onsite gym. You will contribute to creating a friendly and welcoming service in our Camberwell service by encouraging the young people to take part in physical activity. The main aims of this role is to supervise the young people’s use of the gym equipment, as well working them to organise fitness sessions that are fun and accessible for all abilities.

Role summary

  • Lead fitness sessions for young people
  • Supervise gym activities
  • To offer a fun and inclusive environment where young people can enjoy exercise together
  • Working with young people of varying abilities to create sessions and get the young people involved in exercise

Role requirements

  • Be a trained gym instructor, hold a Level 1 Personal Training Qualification or equivalent (kickboxing experience is a bonus)
  • Ability to communicate confidently and clearly with young people and staff
  • A passion for leading fitness or sport for young people
  • Reliable, punctual and have a positive 'can do' attitude
  • Provide consistency with days and times each week for the young people
  • A commitment to demonstrating Centrepoint’s values
