At Centrepoint, we hold volunteers in high regard. There are a multitude of ways you can volunteer with us from Study Support for a young person, being a Money Mentor, Gym Buddy, Gardener and much more. It can be a rewarding and satisfying experience for someone and lifechanging for someone else.
Johanna explains: 'Mentoring at Centrepoint has been such a brilliant experience. I was nervous when I started, worrying whether I’d be able to help my mentee in the way that she needed. But the training and support Centrepoint give is brilliant and the most important thing I learnt was just to be flexible to what the young person needs, and that just being a friendly, listening ear can go a long way!
Over the course of our mentoring, we worked together to help my mentee progress towards her ambitions –like supporting her with college coursework, prepping for job interviews and looking at housing options. We also worked on skills such as budgeting. There were, of course, challenging times for my mentee but it was really rewarding when we were able to work through these together.'
Last year, 413 volunteers gave 19,249 hours of their time to Centrepoint. Every hour given helps give homeless young people a future.
We simply couldn’t have such a positive effect on young people’s lives without the support of volunteers, so if you want to give a little of your time, visit:
